A New Year, A New Creation Story

In the Rebirth of Light Reading A New Year, A New Creation Story 8 minutes Next Grumpy Resolutions

All over the world, stories are told of the birth of creation, rising in luminous light, out of great infinite nothingness, or out of the scattered elements of unformed chaos. New life, and a fully formed majestic world, arises.

New years is the time we culturally engage in a new creation story. New habits. New haircuts. New diets. New vows. New rhythms. To start again. The heart of new years is renewal.

Many new year's traditions, the world over, involve a releasing and dissolving of all that came the year before — along with protection against negative influences — so a new birth can be had free of the past. Life is recreated, and reborn, in a greater conscious awareness, harmony, and reconnection to a deeper purpose and way of being with life. In fact, it's often said that if we don't consciously enact this primordial pattern of dissolving and renewal, that pattern will show up anyways in our lives. That mythic force will play itself out in ways we may not be so happy about.

Yet, we can consciously re-enact this creation myth, renewing our own life and the world, both within ourselves and outwardly, and engage those forces in a way that keeps harmony and balance in our lives, with a lot less unnecessary disruption, drama and snot-fests.

So what’s calling to be dissolved and be reborn in you?
What renewal do you want to see in life? What new creation is on the horizon, calling, to be born out of the elements of the old? Where is your deep longing calling?

If you’re unclear, try free form writing on the theme of rebirth to get ideas circulating. Feel into what in your life feels stagnant and needs new breath and fresh eyes. Or. take it straight into meditation and symbolically enact your own creation myth.

Find a quiet, comfortable, place where you won’t be disturbed.
Turn off phones and get ready to go within.
Begin with a few full and easeful breaths — inhaling through the nose and letting slow, relaxed, exhales effortlessly fall out of the mouth.
Sigh it out.
Feel the space of your heart. Without thinking about the heart, just put your awareness at the heart. Breathe and witness. When naturally ready, allow the imagery to arise. No force needed here. (Strenuous force is so early 2020s…. We’re over that nonsense.)

Imagine the tired old, the ancient pattern — however that looks to you — dissolving. Let the image of it arise. Could be an old man or woman who’s lived a full life of hard work; or it could look like a boulder in the way of path forward, or one attached to you behind. However it arises for you, let it come without question. If you can, name it, before letting it naturally dissolve in your imagination. Witness how it looks in dissolution. What is left? Anything?
Once dissolved, rest in the space of that open, fertile potential. The humble womb where creation is born anew.

Then, in a flash, like the morning sun rising out of seeming nothingness, let the light of imagination bring new creation to shape.
What’s wanting to be created in you?
What’s a new way of being you’re ready to embody? (We’re not wanting to force some idea or desire, but allow it to arise in surprise, from a deep longing or wisdom beyond.)
As the image, and felt sense, forms in the bright scape of your imagination, increase any specifics using the senses. Be detailed.
Feel it.
See it bright and clear.
Hear it.
Smell it.
Taste it.
Call it out.
Make it as real as possible. (The brain doesn’t know the difference between what’s imagined or experienced when the senses are present.)

How would it feel to have or be part of this creation, this new life?
What do you see and hear?
For example, if you see yourself walking somewhere, feel what it’s like to walk there.
Are there any scents or smells that come with the scene?
Make it as alive as possible, as real as you can make it. And watch for any surprises or unexpected elements in the imagery. As you immerse in the scene and feelings, feel and know the reality of this new creation story, enjoy it and be thankful for the surprise. Treat it as a celebration.
Lastly, offer it up to the source of that fertile creativity and wisdom within you. Then in one last moment of great thanks — let it go. Let the visualization and feelings naturally fade like water droplets re-entering and absorbing into the great ocean.
Relax and breathe.

Now’s a good time to sit back for a moment and enjoy. No need to rush off yet. Put on a little music (preferably with related lyrics or no words at all to keep your mind still sorting around with the new creation. Lean into the trust and calm gratitude. Be thankful and let your mind shift attention. We’re starting this year off in the care of ease and trust. Rest and digest is in this year. It’s the new sexy.

If we can't do that, how can we metabolize and let go of the old and make space for the new? How can we receive what is to come and have the strength and resources to act on it? (By the way, our monthly promotion is all about this, and that’s no accident. So check out our Rest, Digest and Save promotion here)

We also love to sit back with a warm drink like Zensations Clear Mind or Mindful Balance to get the support of Lion’s Mane and its potent role in helping fortify new ways of being and seeing, by helping create neural pathways to match the new world you birthed.

This moment of relaxation, before getting on with life, will help anchor this newness and allow for further inspiration and clarity to arise as you go about your days.

Next, in the story, comes the time of action and following through with our resolutions to put this vision into being. Resolutions, and acting on them, are the way we carry forward the creation of this new world, and make it a reality. It’s where we ‘work the fields’ to to honour our visions and intentions.

What action and habits support the new creation?
What state of mind and body is needed to do this?
And what supports that?

Do you need more energy? Clarity of mind and memory? Relaxation and ease? Creativity? Or simple relief from pain to take those steps? (The natural world, and high quality supplements, offers a lot of help in all these categories.)

Essentially, call in the health and vibrancy of a mind and body at ease, free and clear, to support the actions that make this new creation and resolution, a reality. It makes following through, and staying inspired, a lot easier when you see results.

New creations are a time of big implications, full of the challenges, resistances, and opportunities that come with transformation from the old to the new. It’s the story of life and infinite renewal.

Give your new creation story everything it deserves and you deserve. Call in the support to honour it.

Trust it’s for you and that it is your story — your new birth — and that you are an integral part of its story. A story that reaches far beyond the confines of your own, seemingly isolated, experience. Trust it’s time for the creation of a new world, made in a greater light of awareness, harmony, resonance, and love, then ever possible before. And trust that in consciously enacting this timeless pattern of dissolution and renewal, a lot less drama and soap operatics need play out in your life. The seeds of harmonious renewal are alive within you. Water it with all the support it deserves and be ready to look back one day and utter that greatest of affirmations: Thank you.

Nice to begin the new year together. Welcome back everyone. The more of us engaged in harmonious transformation, and supporting each other to do so, the better our collective story becomes.

Happy New Year!

May your new creation story be simply beyond!
