Much of the sulfur in a horse’s diet arrives in the amino acids methionine and cysteine, which are also needed to build protein. MSM provides a direct source of sulfur, helping spare those amino acids for their other roles.

Tendons and ligaments support and stabilize the joint. A horse in regular work continually maintains and remodels these connective tissues.
A study of 30 racing Standardbreds compared daily amounts of 10 and 20 g of MSM. Both supplemented groups improved their training times, with the larger amount showing the greater change.
