PURICA launches foundation

…issues affecting children, adults & seniors and animal welfare among the prime beneficiaries of the charitable platform established by supplements company

DUNCAN, B.C. (Tuesday, July 19th, 2016) –PURICA, a Canadian-owned and operated whole food and natural supplements company, has established the PURICA Foundation as part of its ongoing commitment to causes important to Canada and Canadians.

The PURICA Foundation — a fund held at the Victoria Foundation headquartered in Victoria, B.C. — is designed to generate charitable donations, fund-raising initiatives and promotional support for key causes in children and social development; adults and seniors; and animal welfare.

“The PURICA Foundation is designed to reflect the core vision of PURICA as a natural supplements company and that is ‘a world where you achieve your fullest potential in every aspect of life, work and play’ ”, said PURICA Foundation executive director Marnie Watkin of Duncan. “That’s where our Foundation comes into play. We realize that many people require special support and additional resources in order for them to make the most of life, work and play and we aim to provide that where we can, with an emphasis on children, seniors and animal welfare.”

The PURICA Foundation made its official debut last weekend as part of the Duncan Parade, Saturday, July 16th. PURICA entered a float in the Parade to drive home a Santa Claus theme to pay tribute to the first initiatives supported by the PURICA Foundation.

Among those first initiatives to be supported by the PURICA Foundation is the Clements Centre for adults with disabilities (supporting those living with brain injuries, Down’s syndrome and other debilitating diseases). PURICA employees are also involved in a related initiative, Operation Track Shoes, which brings together 1,500 athletes with disabilities to Victoria.

The PURICA Foundation will raise funds and awareness for such children’s, seniors and animal causes through a variety of initiatives on a year-round basis:

  • Corporate targets and/or percentage of sales
  • Cash donations
  • Product donations
  • Educational, Promotional and Employee Support
  • Fund-raising events
  • Annual giving campaigns by employees
  • Collaboration with PURICA retailers and other stakeholders

Through the fund held at the Victoria Foundation, supporters of the PURICA Foundation fund will receive donation receipts for cash contributions made in support of specific initiatives in children’s, seniors and animal causes to be outlined over the course of the coming months and years.

The PURICA Foundation is all part of the Duncan-based company’s commitment to be a leader in natural supplements, lifestyle and nutritional education and community philanthropy.

“Excellence in supplements, lifestyle education and community philanthropy truly are the three pillars of the PURICA way,” said Trevor Watkin, Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer & CFO for PURICA. “We are dedicated, day-in, day-out, to honour the ‘You’ in our PURICA mantra of ‘Nature. Science. You.’ From our founding 16 years ago, a focus on the community interests and causes of our customers has always been important to us. All that we’re doing is formalizing what we’ve been doing for years in the community and by creating this PURICA Foundation, we’ll be able to do more than we’ve ever done before.”.
